Toronto will be seeing a plethora of road restrictions this upcoming weekend.
If you plan to visit the city or surrounding areas, prepare accordingly as you may run into some construction ... and more than a few Swifties.
TTC updates
. Line 1 Yonge-University, Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, and multiple streetcar routes have extra service for the concerts. Surface routes include the 19 Bay, 509 Harbourfront, 510D Spadina, and 511 Bathurst lines.
The transit service is encouraging concert goers to leave their cars at home or at a TTC parking lot.
Go Train
Metrolinx will be adding service to their Lakeshore lines as they manage crowds for Taylor Swift.Ìý
Lakeshore East and West routes will have extra trains added for fans getting to and from the big concert. They’ll be running during her shows from Nov. 14 to 16 and Nov. 21 to 23.
Eras Tour closures
Plenty of roads will be impacted by Swift’s concert days.Ìý
On concert days at 1 p.m., westbound lanes on Bremner Boulevard between Rees Street and Navy Wharf Court will be closed. Eastbound lanes will remain open for two-way traffic.
At 2 p.m., Bremner Boulevard between Spadina Avenue and Simcoe Street, northbound lanes on Rees Street, and Blue Jays Way between Spadina Avenue and south of Front Street will be restricted to local traffic only. Lake Shore Boulevard will also be reduced to two westbound lanes at the intersection with Rees Street for a drop-off point.Ìý
At 10 p.m. Front Street between Blue Jays Way and Simcoe Street, John Street south of Wellington Street and Windsor Street south of Wellington will be closed to support crowds leaving the .Ìý
At 11 p.m. eastbound and westbound Gardiner Expressway off-ramps to Spadina Avenue will be closed to restrict traffic into the area as concertgoers leave.
The city says all roads and ramps will re-open around 1 a.m. when crowds lessen after each show.ÌýÂ
Other major roads closedÂ
There’s always plenty of other construction around the city that’s not Swift related.Ìý
Starting on Sunday at 6 p.m., southbound lanes on Yonge Street will be closed between Dundas and Shuter Streets for the delivery of escalator equipment to the Eaton Centre. All northbound lanes will remain open for two-way traffic, the city said. The roads will remain this way until 6 a.m. on Nov. 18.
Starting on Friday, and for the next four weekends, Plug Hat Road in Scarborough will be closed between Beare and Meadowvale Roads from 6 p.m. on Fridays to 6 a.m. on Mondays, weather permitting, the city said.
These closures are being put in place for the replacement of the existing Plug Hat Road Culvert and installation of reinforced earth retaining walls.
Danforth Road at Mackinac Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day until Nov. 29 as sewer work gets done.Ìý
