The federal government provides a rural supplement to individuals receiving the Canada Carbon Rebate (formerly named climate action incentive) who reside in small or rural communities.
This supplement is an additional 20 per cent in carbon rebate money that is provided to residents of Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia whose primary residence is outside a Census Metropolitan Area, as well as all residents of Prince Edward Island.

Individuals who filed their 2024 income tax and benefit return electronically no later than April 2 are expected to be issued their final Canada Carbon Rebate payment April 22.
Individuals who filed, or will file later, will receive their final payment once their 2024 return is assessed.
