Health Canada has issued a recall notice for Techno brand Square Flip Top Torch Lighters due to a potential fire hazard.
“Immediately stop using the recalled product and dispose of it,” reads the Health Canada notice .Ìý

The recall involves the Techno Square Flip Top Torch Lighters Refillable lighters of assorted design with the UPC 707670196070.
The company reported that 504 units of the affected products were sold in Canada between March 2024 and April 2024.

What’s the issue with the recalled product?
The Health Canada notice explains the recalled product doesn’t meet the requirements of the lighter regulations in Canada and may pose a fire or burn hazard.

May exceed the allowable flame height during ignition.
May exhibit an abnormal, sudden increase in flame height.
May continue to burn after the trigger mechanism has been released.
May not have a child resistant mechanism.
As of Dec. 10, 2024, Health Canada says the company has received no reports of incidents in Canada, and no reports of injuries.
