On Thursday, May 9, the first severe G4 geomagnetic storm watch聽鈥� the first since January 2005 鈥� was issued by the U.S-based National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Prediction Center. The rating for solar events goes from minor G1 events to major G5 events.
