A quick response by lifeguards at Great Wolf Lodge over the weekend is being credited with reviving a woman who was in medical distress at the Niagara Falls resort.
Just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Niagara Emergency Medical Services received a call about a woman who was without vital signs in the resort’s pool.
EMS operations supervisor and spokesperson Bryce Brunarski said by the time paramedics arrived, the lifeguards had performed resuscitative actions on the woman. She was out of the pool, breathing and conscious when paramedics arrived.

Brunarski said that using the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale, a standardized system used in Canadian emergency departments and pre-hospital settings to prioritize patients based on the severity of their condition, the paramedics opted to take the woman to a local hospital.
He commended the lifeguards for the speed of their response.

“The action and the quick thinking of the lifeguards made the difference for sure,” Brunarski said.
A spokesperson from Niagara Health said the hospital system would not provide an update on the status of the woman, stating it is unable to disclose any patient information without consent.
