This recall involves the Makita brand 18V Cordless Grease Gun with model number DGP180Z, UPC 088381886819. The tool may also be a component of the following kits: DGP180SYX1, UPC 088381752466 and DGP180YEX1, UPC 088381752473.

Thousands of recall units sold in Canada
Some 12,800 units of the affected products were sold in Canada between June 2021 and February 2025.
Laceration risk for user
According to the recall notice, when the grease gun is pumping grease and the hose is bent near the adapter, a hole can be created in the hose, which may burst near the adapter end of the hose — posing a laceration risk to the user.
Health Canada reports the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada as of March 28. However, the company has received five reports of lacerations with some injuries outside of Canada.
