Not all candidates have been registered in the ridings yet. To see who is running and the political parties in your area, visit and enter your postal code into the search under My Voter Information. That information will be updated as more candidates register.

Here’s a few things you might want to know about the election process.

Elections Canada is hiring

Poll clerks and key riding staff positions need to be filled before the election. Applications are being accepted this week for many spots on election day.

New to voting? Register now

For any new Canadian citizens, or 18 year olds who are now eligible to vote, you might not be registered yet. Elections Canada offices will soon be open across the country to take your registration, or visit for more details about registering to vote online with the .

Alternatively, you can also call 1-800-463-6868 for voter information.

If there is a language barrier, Elections Canada is able to provide , but advanced notice is needed to accommodate.

Voters should be registered by April 22 to vote, however, it can also be done at your assigned polling station on election day. Just bring along proper identification, such as a driver’s licence, or utility bill and student ID card.

Help with voter’s card

If you don’t receive your voter information card by April 11, or the information on it is incorrect, use the to check your registration, register or update your address, or call us at 1-800-463-6868 or 1-800-361-8935 (TTY) for assistance.

Vote early

You can still vote early at any of the by today — Tuesday, April 22, at 6 p.m. 

More than two million Canadians have already voted, both with advance polls held this weekend, and through a special mail-in ballot.

Residents in hospitals or acute care facilities are eligible to April 20 to 22. You will have to register to vote by special ballot from your hospital room.

For anyone wishing to , applications must be in by April 22. Once you apply to vote by special ballot, you cannot change your mind. Mailed ballots must be received by Elections Canada by April 28 at 6 p.m. Eastern time.

Election Day

The polls will be open on election day, Monday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. You do not have to bring your voter information card with you to vote, but it does streamline the process.
