Community groups are encouraging people to come out and learn, share ideas and work towards the goal of tripling clean energy in five years. Some involved are Seniors for Climate Action NOW!, Rotary Club of Guelph, Water Watchers and ߲ݴýClimate Action Network.
It’s ߲ݴýEarth Week and community groups are holding events to draw attention to the climate crisis. Some groups involved are (SCAN!), , and (GCAN).
Earth Day is Tuesday April 22 and the theme this year is “Our Power, Our Planet,” said SCAN! in a press release adding the goal is to work toward tripling global generation of clean electricity by 2030.
“As seniors, we want to be the last generation hooked on oil and gas,” said Gina Lammel, chair of SCAN!

She said the timing of the federal election is perfect to allow us to re-evaluate and tell our politicians that we need to transition from oil, gas and pipelines and move on to clean, renewable energy.

3. Later is too Late — Thursday, April 24
The ߲ݴýscreening of the Canadian documentary film based on the Day of Climate Action on Oct. 1, 2024, is being held at Dublin Street United Church, from 7 to 9 p.m. The event is free, but they ask you register at

Learn the science of climate change and become empowered to act at this free workshop at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre, , from 6 to 9 p.m.
