Mother Nature has finally provided enough fresh powder or cool temperatures for many of Ontario’s ski resorts to open for the winter.
Here are many of the Ontario ski resorts, and details about their snow base and runs open as of Jan. 8.
Simcoe County
 received plenty of snow during recent snow squalls in the Simcoe County area, and has 75 centimetres of base on its downhill runs, and 20 centimetres on its nordic trails. For all skill levels, 27 of 28 runs are open.
 has a base of 40 to 70 centimetres of snow, with 34 of 35 slopes open, and two of five parks open.
 has an average base of 65 centimetres of snow, with 33 of 43 trails open.Â
 has 85 centimetres of snow for a base and 15 of 21 runs open.
 has 12 of 24 hills and one terrain park open for skiers and snowboarders, with more than 24 centimetres of base.
Durham Region
has an average of 80 centimetres of base, with 13 of 22 ski trails open.
 has 60 centimetres of base built and 13 of 20 runs open.
 has eight of its 23 trails open and one terrain park.
Ottawa Valley
has 10 of its 12 runs and eight terrain park features open, with a good base on all runs and 14 new centimetres since last week.
 has nine trails open and one terrain park, with snow-making operations continuing.
Kawartha Lakes area
 has four runs open and is still working on building a base up to open more trails.
 has nine runs open and a good base built.
Halton
 has opened eight runs and is continuing its snow-making to open more.
 has four runs open, with a 30-centimetre base. Night skiing is expected to open on Friday.
York Region
 has been making snow and is open for regular hours.
Muskoka
 has an 80-centimetre base already, with many trails open for day and night skiing and snowboarding.
Brampton
 ski hill remains closed due to hill conditions.
Kitchener
 has 35 centimetres of base, but there are no green circle learning areas open. Only blue square and black diamond runs are open, with seven of 13 runs available.
London
 has 14 of 16 runs open, with 40 centimetres of snow piled up for a base.
