The in-person auditions will be taking place at CBC Toronto located at 25 John St. between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. local time.
This season’s panel of judges will feature rising Canadian actor Simu Liu, along with Brian Scudamore, Michele Romanow, Arlene Dickinson, Wes Hall and Manjit Minhas.
How to apply
Before coming in for your audition, all applicants are asked to fill out an online application highlighting basic personal information, and questions about the business or product name you will be presenting to the dragons that day.
Applicants will also be required to upload a 30-60 second elevator pitch for the judges to get a sense of who you are and what your company or product is all about. You will also be asked why you need the dragons, and what you will do with the money invested in your business, so be prepared to answer these important questions.

Audition cheat sheet
Fortunately, the TV network has provided applicants with a of helpful tips to prepare for the big moment and audition.
For starters, CBC suggests applicants identify the opportunity for the investor, and what their competitive edge might be. “Why is this the next great deal, and why are you the entrepreneur to invest in?” the cheat sheet asks.
Be prepared with a background story to establish a human connection, and showcase your passion and energy to the dragons when it’s time for you to present. “Put your best foot forward. This is television, not PowerPoint!” CBC stresses.
The network has also provided a list of what to check for prior to auditions, including exact location, date, and time, and bringing any and all equipment needed with you on the day of your audition, including extension cords, laptops, stereos, etc. Be sure to have your online application filled out prior to your arrival, as well as your consent and release form.
Most importantly, be sure to bring your product that you are pitching. “Producers want to see it all. It’s your one shot to get to pitch to the Dragons, don’t leave anything at home.” Applicants are also encouraged to bring snacks and entertainment along with them as waiting times can be “upwards of several hours.”
Flow of audition
CBC has outlined what to expect on the day of your audition, so applicants are well prepared in advance. Apart from registering upon arrival, the flow of the audition itself has been revealed to applicants.
When called upon, producers want to see you enter and stick to a format, much like you may have seen before if you’ve watched the show. For example, “Hello dragons/producers, my name is Jane, I’m from Toronto, Ontario, and I’m here seeking $100,000 for 20 per cent of my business, Jane’s Book Store.”
Then comes your elevator pitch, highlighting all the important details about your business in approximately one minute. You will then be asked to demonstrate the product or service in front of the dragons, before a Q&A with the producers. The producers will “turn into dragons and start asking all the interesting details our dragon panel might want to know.”
Other Canadian locations
Following the Toronto auditions, applicants in Montreal, Vancouver, Whitehorse, Calgary, London, St. John’s, Fredericton, and Moncton will have their chance to wow the panel of judges and make it on to the next season of the show.
