Aviva Canada has encountered a 76 per cent increase in fraud over the past 12 months, including a trend toward 鈥渞e-vinning鈥� of stolen autos to pass them off as legitimate resale vehicles.

Auto theft has dropped substantially across Canada, which may leave consumers expecting a break on their next insurance renewal. But that’s only half of the story.

The latest numbers from 脡quit茅 Association鈥檚 2024 show auto theft decreased 18.6 per cent in 2024, from a record high in 2023.
